Image source, Getty ImagesFormer Scottish striker David Weatherston, who ended his career in Norway, on the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast: "Brann have shown in the last two years that they're pretty much the second best team in Norway behind Bodo/Glimt.
"They play really exciting football, super offensive, high press, quick transitions.
"They've got a lot of talented players. Bard Finne, a Norway international, plays up front. Felix Horn Myhre is a super-talented midfielder and definitely one that's got a big future.
"Brann are much more suited to European football, the style they play. They beat Go Ahead Eagles from the Netherlands last week, which was quite an even game, but they definitely deserved to win the home leg, which was enough for them.
"That was off the back of a pretty unlucky penalty defeat to AZ Alkmaar in the play-offs last year.
"Brann are coming in with a little bit of experience in the last two years in Europe. They won the cup last year as well, so definitely a tougher opposition for St Mirren."

Tromso finished third last season but are currently in relegation danger, sitting 13th in their 16-team league having gained just 18 points from 18 games.
Brann are in decent shape though. They were second last term and are second now, seven points off leaders Bodo/Glimt.
Tromso, who played in the Europa League groups in 2013-14, made it to this stage of qualifying by dispatching Finnish side KuPS in the last round.
Meanwhile, Brann, who haven't played European group-stage football since 2007-08, dumped out Dutch outfit Go Ahead Eagles.

The Norwegian side sit second in their top flight after 18 matches, but the Buddies boss says his team expects to win every time they take to the field.
"The mentality every game we go into is that we expect to win," the St Mirren boss said.
"We go to Celtic Park, we expect to win. We don't always, we very rarely do to be fair, but we have created that mentality.
"The boys know, if we're at the best of our ability, we don't fear anybody - and that includes Europe. We believe we can beat anybody on our day with the players we have."

Danny Armstrong and Joe Wright are recalled, with Oliver Bainbridge, David Watson and Fraser Murray dropping to the bench.
Corrie Ndaba misses out but could feature in next week's second leg.
